News of the 2012 Bed Race
Entry forms will be available from 1st January 2012 and have to be submitted by 29th February 2012. The theme for the next Bed Race year is ‘Olympic Nations’.
Interest in the Race is at an all-time high. The Great Knaresborough Bed Race was a finalist in the 2011 Where Else But England awards of the English Tourist Board. Recent TV coverage has included Look North, Songs of Praise, CBBC’s All Over the Place, Sky Sports News; Stray FM and BBC Radio York have done much to enhance awareness of the event, and newspapers and magazines report on Bed Race both here and abroad.
Bed Race is organised by volunteers led by the Knaresborough Lions. It is staged for charity and good community causes. Since being first staged in 1966 it has grown to be one of the largest community events in the North of England.
Tourist organisations have reported an upsurge in bookings for accommodation and local businesses are in touch with questions about how they can help. For further information on sponsorship, advertising or commercial support contact nigelahperry@hotmail.com
