Knaresborough Lions need volunteers to help with various roles for The Great Knaresborough Bed Race.
The Great Knaresborough Bed Race is one of the largest long-running Community events in North Yorkshire which raises amounts up to £80,000 for charitable causes. The increasing popularity of the Race means that extra volunteers to prepare, run and marshal the event on the day are required.
How can you help? We can accommodate groups or individuals. The following roles need to be filled:
Road Closure Marshals: role requirements – a mature person who can man a Stewarding point and keep the spectators safely out of the path of the beds during the Parade and Race. WHEN? Initial reporting is to be before 12.30 pm on race day for briefing and tabard collection. For the Parade 13:00-14:00 and the Race 15:00-16:00. NB the role can be split into 1.25 hour slots, Parade & Race.

Field Set Up Volunteers: role requirements – physically able to help move safety barriers, set up road pin and tape barriers, erect gazebos etc. WHEN? Friday afternoon, 11 June, and Saturday morning, 12 June.
Volunteers for the Castle Ground: role requirements – help make arrangements for the decorated beds and for the start of the Parade. Clearance of Castle Ground site of litter etc. WHEN? 09:00 to 14:00 on Race day. ield : role requirements – physically able to help move security barriers, set up road pin & tape barriers, build Gazebos etc. WHEN? Friday afternoon (13th! June) and Saturday morning (14th June).
Volunteers for Conyngham Hall Field: role requirements – help with general organisation, manning the entry gate and the Race arena. WHEN? 12:30 – 17:00 on Saturday.
Field clear-up (lots): role requirements – physically able to help remove security barriers, pull up road pin & tape barriers, dismantle gazebos etc. Litter-pick & field tidying WHEN? Saturday from 17:00 to 19:00 (12 June).
