Knaresborough Lions need volunteers to help
with various roles for The Great Knaresborough Bed Race.
The Great Knaresborough Bed Race is on of the largest long-running
Community events in North Yorkshire which raises approx £50,000
for charitable causes each year. Changes in government legislation
mean that a significant number of additional volunteers are needed
in order to keep the cost of road closures down to a manageable
level.
How can you help? We can accommodate groups or individuals. For
groups we can operate a labour – exchange scheme, where Knaresborough
Lions will support your event.
The following roles need to be filled:
- Road Closure Marshals(20): role requirements – a
mature person who can move a Road Closure sign into the road
when instructed to do so, stay in place for approx 1 hour and
remove the sign when instructed to do so. WHEN? For
the Parade 13:00-14:00 and the Race 15:00-16:00. NB the role

mature person who can man a Stewarding point and keep the spectators
safely out of the path of the beds during the Parade and the
Race. WHEN? For the Parade 13:00-14:00 and the Race
15:00-16:00. NB the role can be split into 1 hour slots, Parade & Race.
