A Civic Honours Reception was held at Knaresborough House on the evening of June 29th, 2001 at which the Freedom of Knaresborough was bestowed on Mr. George A. Moore, CBE, Knight of St. John. and also presented to Dr. A. Kellett. Long-service awards were presented to ex-members of the Town Council: Mrs. J.D. Dunn, Mrs. E.R. Ferguson, Mrs. J. Gowing, Mr. K.W. Gregson and to County Councillor B. Hoult and a posthumous long service award was presented to Mr. George Clough.
