If you love wildlife and you live in the Harrogate district then
this is the club for you!
The Club Be prepared! The Junior Section of Harrogate and District Naturalists' Society has been in continuous existence since 1972. The group is run as a local Wildlife Watch Club - part of the junior branch of the Wildlife Trusts - with experienced, registered Wildlife Watch Group Leaders.
Membership of the club is open to everyone under 18 years of age with an interest in wildlife and the countryside.  To gain extra value and information, individual Wildlife Watch membership is also recommended.  See the contact number below for further details.
Subscriptions Payable on 1st April each year to the HDNS Membership Secretary (see Membership).
Junior members (under 18): £3 per year.
Family membership (Includes adult membership and all Juniors): £15 per year.
Young visitors fee (Must be accompanied by responsible adult): £1 per event.
(Individual Wildlife Watch Membership: £10.  Payable to Wildlife Watch at Newark. )
Field Meetings Are you ready for action? When on an outdoor meeting suitable WARM and WATERPROOF clothing and footwear are essential (you could be turned away without!).  You may wish to bring along binoculars and a magnifying glass if you have them.  A small notebook and pencil may also be useful.
Please follow the Country Code and consider other people.  One of the best ways of seeing wildlife is to walk slowly and quietly so that there is less chance of frightening anything away.  Remember also that the leaders are giving up their time for your benefit so please repay them by acting responsibly and following all safety rules and instructions.
Adult Meetings Club Members are also entitled to attend any adult meeting of the Society as long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.  (Adults' events can be found at HDNS Adults Section)
Parents Parents are always welcome.  To help us comply with the requirements of the Children Act, and to provide individual support, children UNDER 8 YEARS of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  In the interests of other children and the wildlife we prefer NO DOGS.  Please ensure you have completed a Parental Consent Form for each child. Please try to arrive on time but always inform the leaders if you or your child arrive late or need to leave a meeting early.
