Mother Shipton - Witch and Prophetess

King James's School, Knaresborough: 1616 - 2003
Published in 2003 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the accession of King James to the throne of England.
The absorbing story of one of Yorkshire's oldest schools, founded in 1616 by James I, in the very area associated with Guy Fawkes, the man who had planned to destroy him.
From the days when boys had to talk only in Latin and bring their own bows and arrows to school, to the contemporary comprehensive, with its advanced computerisation, here is an account of a remarkable evolution.
This entertaining book, with its touches of humour, is full of facts, figures, anecdotes and pictures, many in colour. Capturing the atmosphere and traditions of King James's School, it will have a wide appeal, but especially to past and present pupils and their families.
