KNARESBOROUGH will be the subject of two programmes for the BBC's Songs of Praise with two recording sessions taking place at the end of February – and everyone is invited to take part.
Excitement is mounting as preparations get underway for the filming event and people are being invited to take part in the congregational singing of six well-known hymns, when the programmes are recorded in St John’s Church.

One programme is jointly for Palm Sunday and the marking of the 800th anniversary of the giving of the Royal Maundy and this will be broadcast on March 28.

The second will be about Knaresborough and its people and will be transmitted later in the year.

Rev Elizabeth Sewell, Team Rector of the Knaresborough Anglican Team said: “This is a great opportunity to show off Knaresborough – as a place of Christian worship, as a centre of historical significance to the whole country and as a brilliant place to live, work and visit.

“We hope to pack St John’s for both recording sessions. Come along and have your chance to appear on national TV.”

l The sessions are Friday, February 26, from 7pm till 9.30pm for sound recording and Saturday, February 27, from 9.30am till 4.30pm for vision recording.

It is hoped people will be able to attend both sessions and anyone wanting to be part of the congregation should fill in the coupon on the right and return it.
